RACHMANINOV LANDSCAPES OF THE SOUL : 24 PRÉLUDES
Rubicon, 2021
***** Classica, ***** Musica, **** Diapason, sélection disque de la semaine Le Monde
These pieces are like witnesses to the Russian soul, as Rachmaninoff beautifully describes in his writings: 'Every note is important, but there is something as important as the notes—it's the soul, the extraordinarily precious spark. The soul is the source of the highest expressions in music, and it cannot be notated by dynamic markings.
IMPRESSIONS 1905
Paraty, 2017
The early years of the 20th century were marked by an artistic revolution, with the influence of foreign cultures enriching music. Around 1905, Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy, and Isaac Albéniz renewed musical harmony by creating sonic 'impressions' where pictorial and poetic inspiration took precedence over mere representation, establishing a dialogue between their works, beyond styles.
RUSSIAN IMPULSE
Paraty, 2014
Russian Impulse is Fanny Azzuro's debut album, dedicated to the great Russian piano works of the 20th century. Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, and Kapustin respond with rhythmic and dynamic compositions, from Rachmaninoff's Variations on a Theme of Corelli to Prokofiev's hammered sonata, and the jazz groove of Kapustin's Variations, highlighting the richness of rhythmic impulses in a Russia in the midst of a musical explosion.
