Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, and Kapustin respond with rhythmic and dynamic compositions, from Rachmaninoff's Variations on a Theme of Corelli to Prokofiev's hammered sonata, and the jazz groove of Kapustin's Variations, highlighting the richness of rhythmic impulses in a Russia in the midst of a musical explosion.
